Eraserheads on North American Tour - They are Back

It’s true, after all.  Eraserheads are getting back together.

But only for a North American tour.

Posters of an Eraserheads reunion concert began circulating in early August but were quickly branded a hoax  as it said the group was going to perform at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

But the North American tour in October is a done deal.

On August 27, the official Twitter account of chief Eheads songwriter and Yahoo! Philippines OMG! blogger Ely Buendia, tweeted a photo of the tour poster.

The band is set to tour four cities: San Francisco and Los Angeles in California, Jersey City in New Jersey, and Toronto in Canada. Each city will have its own producer.

Although the tour is official, band members and their managers are still sketchy about details—saying only that it took months of getting the boys back together again.

The band, known for enduring pop gems like “Ang Huling El Bimbo,” “Ligaya,” “Magasin,” “Alapaap” and a string of others, last got together in 2009 during their reunion concert called “The Final Set.”

They broke up in 2002 and staged their first reunion concert in 2008 at the open field of Fort Bonifacio in 2008. That set was cut short after Ely , who wrote in his blog about the stresses of that period, was rushed to the hospital after complaining of chest pains.

A second concert happened in 2009 at the SM MOA grounds.

The first reunion concert was attended by around 40,000 people, the second by an estimated 100,000.
